the corona virus appears to be slowing down and that is sliver of good news here but we're stuck big numbers china reporting a slowdown in the number of new cases but the national health commission said. >>a little more than 2000 new cases were reported over the last 24 hours. still a lot of new cases in the total number of cases worldwide is now around 45,000 but it is a different story on this cruise ship quarantined at a japanese port japan's health ministry reported 39 new cases of corona virus. the update brings the total number of people on the diamond princess ship to 174. the ship is carrying 3700 passengers including many americans here in the us, the first group of americans evacuated from wuhan china are finally able to go home the 14 day quarantine ended for 195 people dead march air reserve base this shows the group boarding buses

supervisors chair cindy chavez who told me the declaration of a local emergency essentially does 2 things to be very transparent with the public about what the emergency is and what we can do about it and then the second is to make sure that any monies that we spend on these initiatives so that we have we can spend if the emergency requires it and will be repaid by the state and federal government despite 2 confirmed cases of corona virus in the county there is no evidence the virus is spreading on monday county health officer doctor sara cody told supervisors the risk to the public remains low. the emergency declaration does not change that will help health care providers be better prepared if more virus is detected says chavez we're training people were making sure folks have the appropriate cures that they do find someone who's sick that they can protect themselves, we're making sure that if we identify someone who's sick that we have a a safe. >>a way to handle them so that their other people infected in

rosa how about this chicken and 80 degrees member yesterday. they checked in at 79 napa at 79 degrees richmond 74 degrees little more tying a record at 72 also tied a record at san francisco international airport at 74 degrees. so simply amazing weather all around the bay area these temperatures get a lot of these numbers 80 in novato yet 72 in playoff 77 in concord 72 degrees and hayward 74 in redwood city, 71 right along the coastline. in half moon bay and 73 degrees in mount view in san jose so simply amazing stretch of weather things in the start to change a little bit for tomorrow not seen any cloud cover just yet but i think maybe not tomorrow, maybe just some high clouds tomorrow but as we get into thursday, we'll start to see some low clouds and fog filter back in along the coastline, but the sea breeze going return of the coast of course we have that strong offshore wind and when finally calming down today as high pressure and that area of low pressure that had really help to crank up the winds moving all the way into the

texas panhandle. so certainly things settling down and making for a beautiful day outside today, not much in the way of wind right now little bit of a sea breeze along the coastline. so those winds you can see right there to 5 miles per hour san francisco now calm in the bottle calm in boyle but still more of a northerly gradient or normally when developing a in the north and that will be enough to keep us clear all night long so that being said tonight mostly clear skies and cool temperatures not really cold and then tomorrow sunshine and a few high clouds. temperatures could be a little bit cooler along the coast line and just inside the bay still beautiful and it will stay warm in the interior valleys still some 60's and some 70's, it is still 60 degrees in fremont right now 55 in san jose cooling off along the coastline, 50 civica 48 in san anselmo 47 degrees now an app up and 48 degrees in petaluma that ridge of high pressure really just been that blocking a bridge since january sitting much of california. i'm going to bring another day of some mild temperatures tomorrow. but again that sea breeze kicks in so little cool get out the

government agencies. well the nonpartisan legislative analyst's office is questioning the governor's budget proposal to curb homelessness newsome wants to put million into a new fund that would float a regional administrators selected by the state. the analyst office says this approach would complicate the state's homelessness programs which have historically been run byreview in a public hearing on thursday. well california lawmakers are diving into the state's nearly $200 million census outreach plan california is spending 6 times more than any other state to make sure it gets its fair share of federal money and legislative districts today, a joint committee of state lawmakers held a hearing has essentially the final countdown to the 2020 census, which is now just 3 weeks out from getting started. >>the state lawmakers say they have not seen enough of the

school district in a 15 year-old benjamin curried round 2 years ago in a school district swimming pool during a physical education class but as the turning tells kron four's haaziq madyun that settlement does not mean closure for them. this is tragic words can't describe. >>what happened here and it was preventable. >>in $8 million settlement has been reached between the family of 15 year-old benjamin curvy and the ramon valley unified school district back march 8 2018 the san ramon valley high school freshman drowned in the school swimming pool during a physical education classes his teacher was on duty case has been resolved and we reached a settlement was formally approve less trying to curry family attorney ernie andrew sorts as the case was set for trial next week but believed reaching a settlement with the school district will spare his client's the anguish of having to relive their son's tragic death in a contentious courtroom setting well as as

i've told everybody i mean they're relieved the litigation is over but the pain of this loss is never going to go away and there's nothing that's going to make it go away the settlement does not include any structural changes for teachers of swimming classes in the san ramon valley unified school district. >>but he says he is hopeful days will be different as a result of what happened. >>i think they're going to be reevaluating their policies and procedures and what went wrong and we learned a lot about that and i think the school and about that as well, but i don't know that was necessary part of the settlement, what is it really about is about been curry that is lost and what a wonderful young man he was. i'm hoping this by not only his parents but entire community of san ramon it was a wonderful views doing great. that was we reach out to the san ramon valley unified school district for their response to the legal settlement. >>we received no comment. in san ramon has it made kron 4 news. >>any our police say they found this woman's 2 electric scooters that were reported stolen from a retirement home.

police say the incident was reported in november, but at that time. there are no leads for officers. a few days after the fact, investigators received information that the scooters maybe listed on an online selling app officers followed up arrested the suspect and recovered the scooters. there's more trouble at san francisco's millennium tower today crews, some of the damage said to be caused by sunday's high winds you can see some of that damage behind me. but as kron four's maureen kelly reports a notice of violation filed by cities building inspector revealed yet more damage. >>if you look closely you can see the faint line of the long slightly curved vertical crack in this bluish pane of glass located on the 6th floor of the millennium tower. it's on them to toma street side of the building the same side where a window on the 41th floor shattered causing glass to rain down on the streets

below. >>during sunday's high winds in the notice of violation filed at the luxury condo high rise the city's building inspector called out to the scene noted that the second cracked window on the lower floor could have been caused by falling debris accruing a suspended scaffolding could be seen covering the crack with a protective coating tuesday in an engineering crew was out taking a top a graphical survey at the base of the building. the building's management has until close of business tuesday to turn over an engineering report on the incident to the city up at the park on top of the transbay transit center a grounds keeper was still raking up huge shards of glass that fell as a result of that broken window. despite the fact the millennium tower is now infamous for the fact that it's tilting and leaving more than a foot a spokesperson for the building's homeowners association says this incident has no relationship to the high rises structural integrity, but is instead the result of the gale force winds

>>welcome back a san francisco man is still in the hospital after being shot on saturday night off-duty fbi agent was involved police say this happened in the haight-ashbury district of san francisco, the victim's mother talk to kron four's michelle kingston today. >>the mother says that she's upset that she's not even been able to speak with her son. late saturday night on the 500 block of ashbury in san francisco police say an off-duty fbi agent was involved in a shooting. he was not injured, but 24 year-old ted crane was shot his mom says he was hit twice in his and stomach know i know what >>cranes mother terry peterson says she feels helpless unable to get information about what happened to her son she says

killing. his defense attorneys christina moore said that cow impulsively killed wilson and stabbed her sister while experiencing delusions from that schizophrenia. >>the oakland resident says he was robbed at gunpoint in his own driveway. home security camera captured the crime and now police are investigating kron four's dan kerman reports. >>look at this white sedan going by it caught the eye of this 20 year-old oakland man but not enough to stop him from cleaning his car. little did he know that less than a minute later the 2 people in that car would be robbing him it happened monday afternoon about one 30 in oakland's diamond district, you're looking at home security video which caught the crime. the victim who prefers to remain anonymous says initially he tried to resist until he felt a gun on his neck. that's when he says he dropped to the ground in less than 35 seconds the suspect stole the victim's

necklace bracelet cell phone and keys before leaving the scene. the victim says he still shocked he was robbed right in front of his home. but he says crime has steadily been on the rise in his once quiet neighborhood. he's concerned about his family's safety. >>oakland police are investigating the robbery. they're also confirming that robberies have been on the increase across the city both last year and this year. dan kerman kron 4 news new tonight, an apple engineer who died in a tesla crash had complained about the suvs auto pilot system in the past the complaints were detailed in documents released today by federal investigators the 2018 crash and mountain dew killed engineer walter long. >>the documents say wong told his wife that autopilot had previously veered his suv toward the same barrier along highway, one oh one near mountain view where he later crashed one family is suing tesla and california's department of transportation

for allegedly failing to maintain the highway. the full ntsb board is scheduled to hold a hearing on the crash on february 25th. >>happening now on the peninsula part of highway one oh one is close for phase 2 of the san mateo express lanes project the project will add an express lane in each direction between whipple avenue in redwood city. to just north of interstate 3 80 in south san francisco. that's 22 miles worth of express lanes in each direction. the goal is to reduce congestion by having more people carpool that means there will be nightly lane closures on sections of highway one o one from 09:00pm to 05:30am. >>is back to give us an update on the weather alerts earlier you said you are looking for rain any luck and 4, 7 looking for it all the wrong places i think so yeah we haven't had much in the way of rain just yet but that may change high pressure overhead. you see clear skies out there right now but hey you know what we might just see a hint of some

raindrops coming our way to keep your fingers crossed for this doesn't look like it's a whole lot right now that ridge is too strong high pressure sitting over head. the beginning to weaken you see how these clouds begin to slide a little further and further to the south that's a sign of that ridge started to break down just a little bit. so that's some good news, bad news is that still too strong and so these storms continue to drop over the top of it not leave behind any rain just some clouds and of course we've seen those winds kick up from time to time another system that is going to drop in that one coming in thursday night into friday watch looks impressive see some rain drops off the coastline. and then just all kinds of fades away is that the runs and that ridge gets shredded apart then we get ready for the weekend and this where may get a little more impressive. but in fact the model runs now picked up on a little bit more rain possibly bringing some rain in the bay area on sunday early early in the morning. it doesn't look like much again this is another cold system that's dropping through so the look that promising only a slight chance of showers then we get the next week another storm system kind of just fades away as runs in that ridge but then late next week
